so cute! i've gotta get that kit....because about all i can sew is a button! hahaha...not very "farm chicky" of me, but i just never really learned and now i find sewing kind of overwhelming ;)

Adorable - the red adds so much to that cute coat!! I have the kit too and now I'm so glad to know about the refills!!

I wondered how this was done! Thanks so much for showing us the technique and equipment. I'm in full button-changing mode as I spruice up my winter wardrobe, but I'm mainly going for vintage buttons.

Serena, that looks great. I love the pop of red and the best part is that you are the only person that has that exact coat, it looks fantastic!

Covered buttons are so versatile. I love them. :) Your coat looks fabulous!!

Did you get that coat last season? I can't find it anymore on Forever 21. :) Thanks.

Love the new look..

Never knew that could be so easy -- like 1 2 3 -- thanks.. Kristeen. kandgough@gmail.com

Love it! Your coat could get a new look quite often with that kit in hand.

What a difference new buttons make!
Blessings,
Marcia

That is so cute!! I lack strength in my fingers to work those covered buttons, but...that is where my sweet husband comes in.
I love that you changed the buttons on that!!!
Elise

Hi Serena! Love It! So cute!! Cel and will have to try it on some of our upholstery pieces we've been working on! Thanks for sharing. Glad & Cel/Junebug

Love the happy shot of color! They look great on the black and white of the coat!

So THATS how it's done! I bought the buttons once (not that brand) and attempted to cover them in vinyl, but I didn't know you needed the kit! *palm+forehead*
Thanks!

Hmmmmmm, now where can I put homemade buttons.....hats, bags, shoes? YEP!
Thanks for the great inspiration!

I had no idea it was this easy. And I love your choice of red for your new buttons!

Only you would have the foresight to imagine how great the red buttons would look on that coat. Love it. Going to put button kit on my shopping list.

Wow!!! What a difference changing the buttons out makes!! Thanks for sharing this tutorial... I always wondered about using one of those kits.

Cute coat! Project looks real simple too.

Darling! It looks just like you! Aren't making covered buttons fun? I used to use them alot in sewing --- I think it's time to revive the trend! Covered buttons make wonderful centers for cushions too!

gotta love a cute button

Your coat looks very nice with the red buttons. I have never seen, how to cover the buttons, it looks very easy. Greetings from babi (grandmother)

My Mom used to have one of these as I remember her making matching buttons for some of the dresses she used to sew. I should dig around as her sewing machine is now here and I got everything that was in it! They make such a difference on your coat!

So simple and soooo great! Those sweet buttons made that really cute jacket look like a completely different super cute jacket! I definitely want to give this a shot. Thanks for this great tutorial!!

You have helped me solve a "major" dilemma! I picked up a great red pea coat at an estate sale this summer for $1. Only problem is the buttons. They're ugly and some are missing. I was going to replace them all but keep forgetting everytime I go to the store. I do have some fun black & white fabric and some of the "naked" buttons. It's going to be cute! Thanks!

OH WOW. That is an entirely new coat. Amazing. Well done!

totally, totally cute!!

Serena, I just received my order of necklaces today and LOVE them!!! They are going to be FUN gifts for my friends.
