I miss living in Washington...This gave me some great memories of our many trips to Pike Market. I loved getting fresh flowers and eating chowder in bread bowl down in the restaurants. I enjoyed looking at all the trinkets downstairs...hmmmmmm. So glad you had a lovely time there!!! Have a great weekend.

I love to see that sign! My husband proposed to me at the Pike Place Market. I live in PA, but we first met in Seattle while I was visiting mutual friends. He eventually moved to PA, and on one of our family visits to WA, he asked me to marry him outside the market. And, no - he didn't hide the ring in a flying fish!

Oh, I miss Pikes Market. Loved going there and loved the variety of flowers to choose from, but those cabbage roses, that's what they look like, are GORGEOUS!!!

Last weekend my daughter had an open house to celebrate her new condo. She works a few blocks from the market and stopped there on her way home and bought 3 HUGE bouquets for $25 and brought them to me to do the flowers for her party. Those 'cabbage' roses are ornamental kale. They are great to fill in the window boxes and planters with around the first part of October when most flowers are dying back. You can actually flip the petals out with your fingers and sort of arrange the flower until it does look like a big rose. I was able to do 6 huge bouquets and they were so cheerful! I, too, love the market - I've lived here for all of my 57 years and love it! Unfortunately, the rain hasn't stopped at my house! :)!

I just love the "cabbage" roses. I follow your blog and have linked you to mine. I'm wondering if I could borrow the picture of the cabbages for my blog.... will link my readers back to you for the idea.
Thanks....

I was born and raised in the Seattle area and now live across the Snoqualmie Valley where many growers grow fresh flowers to be sold at the Seattle Public Market. It's beautiful to see as you drive across the valley. Thanks for sharing!
