I've been making my way through your emails and messages regarding the show. I love that you have been so kind to share your opinions and feelings about the show with me.
First, I want to say that the overwhelming majority of you have written to express your love of the show and that makes me so very happy. And some of you have written in to talk about the three following subjects. And since I'm a big believer in just being forthright, I wanted to address these items for all of you to see. Because you and your attendance at the show mean the world to me.
1.) Food at the show: I have no control over the food at the show. The food service is contracted through the Spokane County Fairgrounds directly with the food vendor. I am not allowed to bring in my own food vendors. I have tried talking with the food vendor to let him know my concerns about unacceptable lines, and poor food selections. I have also asked him to provide things that women shoppers would love. Such as cheese plates, fresh fruit, veggie alternatives and more. I've been unsuccessful. Additionally, I have donated my own space at the show, costing me money, to try and offer three areas where food can be purchased and to alleviate lines. Frustratingly, the main concession stand is still understaffed. I have no control over that. If you would like to express your opinion to the fairgrounds staff, I encourage you to contact them at 509-477-1766.
2.) Admission Lines: The show offers four admission lines, we pre-sold tickets to the show once a line started forming in the morning, and we opened the doors early at 9:45 to help with the line.
3.) I understand that some of you miss the show being outdoors. However, had the show been held outdoors, it would have been disastrous with the torrential downpour that we experienced during set-up on Friday. Additionally, most vendors are unwilling to participate in an outdoor show as their merchandise is at too great of a risk.
I hope that helps to explain those areas of your concern. As always, I love hearing from you and reading about your experiences at the show. The following is what I've seen so far. If you've blogged about it and aren't listed below, please drop me a note and I'll make sure to add you on.
Thank you so much for visiting, and for caring so much about the show. You mean the world to me.
