I love clothing that has a unique touch, or something just a little special to it. I'm pretty sure that's why I love Anthropologie so much. But I also don't enjoy spending lots of money, especially for something that I know I can specialize on my own. One of my favorite things to transform is buttons, because I can take an ordinary piece and make it pretty special. This summer, I wanted a fun little jacket for our trip to Nantucket. I went to TJ Maxx and found this little jacket on clearance for $5.
I removed the boring buttons it came with, made some fabric-covered buttons, and added them to the jacket. (I'll have a tutorial for the buttons in a few days).
And now, it's completely my style.

Sometimes I buy clothing at Goodwill or at garage sales just for the old buttons. I love the jacket.

I LOVE what you did with this jacket! My daughter Sarah would arm wrestle you for this! She has, as she's always said, "orange" hair--it's long & beautiful, and she loves wearing green and orange--I need to show this to her--she'll flip!
Nothing makes me happier than a big jar full of wonderful vintage buttons--I use them all the time!

I LOVE buttons too, and hardly ever gave covered buttons a second chance (because; long story of days gone by) but seeing what you did here just might do it (change that) for me.
Cool!!

What an adorable jacket! I love the new buttons. I did an Anthropologie-inspired sweater makeover a few months ago with a coral cardigan my mom got at Kohl's for a steal. It turned out great! It's the little touches like this that make things your very own & so different from all the others... a woman after my own heart, taking something & making it even more special & personalized...
