I love waking up to the sun pouring in over the prairie and into the windows of our happy home. And when the sun takes its last breath of the day, it covers the prairie in a blanket of deep magenta glory. Eastern Washington is a beautiful place to live.
I had the built-in added in a couple of years ago. You can read about it here and here.
I love simple white cotton curtains. You can read more about them here.
My tiny little office. Colin likes to jokingly refer to it as Farm Chicks World Headquarters! hee hee
The tiny little bathroom by my tiny little office. Both a blessing and a curse....when the boys were little, they'd (for some reason) dash for this bathroom at the seemingly worst possible times. Like when I'm on an important business call with a Fortune 500 company. And there's no mistaking the Darth Vader humming and toilet flushing that echos into the phone... And yes, those are muddy little footprints you see, but we're all friends here, right?
My pantry sits behind the double doors
My kitchen. You can read more about it here, here, and here.
My beloved apron collection in the hallway leading to my little laundry room. You can find the directions for the menu board here.

I love the Big Boy Statue in your office :) Did you get that in cincy or is there a story to that?

I just sighed with contentment! Your house is so bright and fresh! I hope to someday attain that level of organization! Currently, my five year old and two year old daughters are just not allowing it! How did you create the tabletop on your white dining table?
Posted by: Lindsay | January 13, 2010 at 11:06 AM
I am speechless! I just quickly went thru the photos...I will have to take an hour or so to go to all of the posts....Lindsay your home is wonderful and bright and cheerful and I am amazed! You live a little closer to heaven than most of us that is for sure! Thanks for sharing!

Your office is the most adorable place ever!!! So organized and cheerful and bright!! It must be your "happy place"!! Did you get the desk at Pottery Barn or put it together on your own? I would really like to do the file cabinet/desk also!
I love the prairie out there and every time I go to visit my family in Spokane I head out to the prairie! I especially love to go in the fall and hit all the little farms. If I ever make it back to Spokane I want to be your neighbor!!
I just posted a picture on my blog of the pantry that we just re-did. My husband built an awesome built in for me and I love to show it off!!!
Just ordered some jewelry and it was so nice to get your note-thanks!!!
Have a great day Serena!

It looks absolutely wonderful! I am amused because I was blogging today about how your blog was the one that got me started last February, and that I found you by Googling labels for my filing boxes. And now I come over here and see your beautifully labeled filing boxes, looking not unlike mine...
Synchronicity!

I spied the Bob's Big Boy too...such a blast from the past. My mom used to send my dad on late night Bob's burger runs when she was pregnant...this was in So Cal.
I'm a new subscriber. Thanks for sharing your home. So inspiring. I've been thinking of white twill slipcovers on my couch & haven't felt brave enough b/c I've got little ones still.
I also LOVE the huge Welcome sign.
Thanks for sharing!

I can't believe you're selling!! I'm going to start perusing the real estate flyers to find it! Maybe I'll buy it! Love the light, airy feel and I'm dying over the built ins! Hope those are in the new plans!

I love my home. But I was just saying to myself the other day...I would love for the bright light of morning to feed in through the windows!!! We get afternoon sun, which is nice, but nothing is quite like waking up to fresh, sunshiny rays! : )
Love this post!
I missed the menu board post before...I'll be taking a peek at that ; )

What is the name and brand of paints that you used in your kitchen and living room? They're so pretty and light. I live in Northern Washington and we've been having a lot of gray days here, I need something happy to lift my spirits!

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us! I liked everything but was especially impressed with the coffee bar/wine rack area in your kitchen. We will have a little area near our kitchen but set off just a little . . . I was thinking of a built-in buffet but I think a coffee bar would really be more our style! (we're building a little country home in a Russian village!)
Thank you!

Love, love, love your house! What a treat to have a special tour! And that corner of your universe is truly God's country - once you've visited, you're changed forever. We used to live in Sandpoint and I'd go back at the drop of the hat.

Simply put, one word, FABULOUS!! Curious, is the table and chairs vintage or new? Also does it leaves any marks on the floor? Thanks,Lori
Posted by: Lori | January 15, 2010 at 09:03 PM
What kind of flooring do you have? Is that real wood? It is so beautiful!

Posted by: Liz | January 17, 2010 at 02:14 AM
Love the pics...especiall the kitchen! Silly question here though...where is your cooktop/oven? (you do have one, I'm sure??!!) I ask because I have an L-shaped kitchen we're looking to expand by knocking out the side wall, and you have the same countertop setup with the same sink, DW, and fridge placement, so I was wondering where your appliances were??!!
Posted by: CountryMama | January 17, 2010 at 01:36 PM
I love the pictures of your beautiful home! Could you please tell me how you created the decorative top on your kitchen table? Thank you!

I absolutely love your home! I wish mine was so neat and tidy! I love the simplicity of it! My home has all those type of colors in it but I don't get the right type of light coming in to make it seem so light and airy! Mine also isn't so artfully arranged! You are truley an inspiration!

love the house! and I agree with everyone - I am desperate to know the name of the yellow you used! I am always searching for the perfect yellow...
Also, love your couches. those on my list and I always love to see them turn-up in other peoples houses, then I can see that they are worth the effort to go to Ikea (5 hrs away) and get them!

You have a Lovely home! Nice and sunny!
Posted by: Minke | January 31, 2010 at 08:26 AM
I am a farm wife/farm chic in East central IL. I live in a log home, but just love your sunny "farm chick chic" decor!
I love your old signs and cans, and especially your old linens and aprons. I inherited home made aprons and embroidered linens and hankies, as well as crocheted and tatted doilies from my grandmother and great aunts. They are something to be cherished, since I feel it has almost become a lost art.
Your web site is a refreshing look at the simple things in life. Thank you!
I am so blessed to live on a farm where I can enjoy bird watching, planting flowers, and taking care of our small waterfall and pond. You are a great inspiration :)
