Christmas is in the air in our house. Each morning the boys open their Advent Calendars and count down another day to Christmas and every night is filled with the Cinnamon Bear. These traditions are so special to our family and I know that they will always be remembered (and possibly carried on) by the boys.
Santa Claus is special for me at Christmastime. I have such fond memories of laying in my sleeping bag as a girl, wondering where he was at that moment. Would he find me, in the middle of nowhere? And he always did.
I thought I'd share this poem to fill your day with Christmas thoughts...
Old Santa Claus puts on his cap
And buckles it under his chin.
He laughs and sings as he fills his sack
And straps it over his sturdy back.
"I'll crowd all I can within.
For girls and boys, such pretty toys -
I've dolls and drums and sugarplums
For all little girls and boys."
Old Santa Claus has reindeer brown
And a sleigh with silver bells.
He rides over all the roofs in town
And stops at the chimney and rattles down
And this pleasant story tells:
"Christmas is here, with gladsome cheer,
And here are toys for girls and boys -
I've dolls and drums and sugarplums,
For all little girls and boys."

Our kids are going to love the Cinnamon Bear stories under the tree (we have catching up to do!). What a great advent idea, thank you!

I can say with utmost certainty: Santa knows where You are, Serena! You make Santa, and all of us believers, welcome in your home. Merry Christmas.

I love the Santa Clause. I love having the Holiday baking smell linger throughout the house and the kids especially love it as well.

stubbled by your blog-could not believe that you listen to Cinnamon Bear. My sister bought me the set of tapes 13yrs ago, and we listen to it every christmas.

Wow: my mother who died in 1998 used to sing a version of this poem to us when we were children and I've never seen it before or since! Where did you find this poem?
ps thanks so much!

Hi Jim,
Merry Christmas. The poem came from I book I own, titled, " The Santa Claus Book" by Irene Smith. The poem is included in the book, however it states "author unknown".
I hope that helps. I'm so glad this evoked a special memory you have of your mother.
All best,
Serena
