I've never been much for making New Year's resolutions, but this year I made a promise to myself that I would take a cake decorating class. It's something that I've wanted to do for years and I finally decided that the time has come.
We who live in Spokane are so lucky to have the local cake decorating shop, Carolyn's. It's been a fixture in our city for years.
I stopped by today to sign up for my class and to peruse their wares. I tell you, there's just something about a local mom and pop shop that I can't resist.
My class is starting soon... I hope to be piping like a champ. I'll let you know how it goes!
Carolyn's is at 1705 N. Hamilton in Spokane. And if you stop by, I bet you'll understand why it's such a beloved Spokane establishment. There's nothing like service from people who are experts at what they do and are passionate about it too.
*Post Edit*
Carolyn's ships nationwide. You can reach the shop at 509-489-3631.

Between posts on my website, I document my life on Instagram. You can follow along with me there.

I am loving passionate people lately. I think I might want to be one someday. :>)

My mom decorated wedding cakes when I was little to earn extra money. I can remember the time and care she would take making the roses and flowers for the decorations. I loved to flip through her Wilton books and dream about all the different cakes there were in there. Over the years, I had some pretty cool birthday cakes :). When I was married 17 years ago, she made my wedding cake. I've always had a special place for cake decorating in my heart.
Have a wonderful time in your class. You'll be whipping up some fabulous cakes in no time :).

I took my first cake decorating class when I was 15, and that was 34 years ago. I still have the book I got in that class. You'll love your new skills!

I have that on my to do list also. But I'd have to leave the pocketbook at home or I'd have a wall of cookie cutters in my HOME! Happy Decorating!

Oh, that sounds like so much fun! The shop looks very thorough in it's supplies! My cousin is a pastry chef and she makes the most amazing cakes!! She uses a fondant icing (I think I said that right? :-)

I took a cake decorating class with my mom and sister. It was a riot! That back wall in Carolyn's looks very tempting. I hope you have a fab vintage cake carrier to tote your cakes back and forth with! Have fun!

I LOVE Carolyn's! Even when I lived in Seattle I would head over to Spokane to get those special little items at Carolyn's and now that I live in San Francisco I really miss that store. Such a great vibe and great people.

I can't even tell you how many times I have gone in there with a possible disaster on my hands and they always have just the right tool and instruction to make it turn out perfectly, ok well not perfectly but much better than it was. Thanks for sharing this with everybody.

Being stationed here in Naples, Italy~ we are VERY limited on baking supplies or any thing cooking or baking American wise~ when I saw these pictures you posted, I was sooo excited. I love all the beautiful items you have in your store.
Will you sell via internet?
If so, can you include FPO AE people?
I would love to order baking supplies, if you do not do on line ordering, maybe you can suggest to me, a company that does FPO AE?
Thanks so much~ I lover your website/blog & cook book!!
