I've been collecting lockets as long as I can remember. When our home was burglarized a few years ago, they took most of my grandma Marjorie's jewelry and the locket that contained her picture. But luckily, they left her picture. So, I still keep her with my collection. Isn't she beautiful?
My favorite locket has the inscription:
Butterfly
Mornin
Wildflower
Afternoon
As a girl, I collected butterfly jewelry too. But that's a story for another day...
My collection was started for me by my mom because she LOVED hearts. Anything hearts. By the time I left home, I was so sick of hearts that I never wanted to see another one again. But thankfully, this year I've warmed up to hearts again (in moderation) and am so glad that I still have my collection...
...after all these years.

"Wishing you Butterfly mornings and Wildflower Afternoons."
I cross stitched that on a pillow in the eighties, loved the sentiment, too.
Now, I'm searching for lockets, too!

What a great thing to collect!
And I'm glad that you have that pic of your grandmother. I can see the family resemblance (and yes, she is a beautiful). :-)
I have a locket that belonged to my Italian grandmother. It's oval (possibly onyx) with a rhinestone cross on the front. Inside it contains a picture of her, my grandfather (who I never knew), and my dad as a little boy.
The only other locket I have is one that my mother gave me when I was a little girl.
No heart lockets though. I think those are cool.

Love your hearts. I have all of my mothers that she collected in high school. Most of them are from the 40's and are lovely. She had them made into a necklace that she left to my daughter. They are treasured.

My husband grandparents have a cross stitch picture with the same quote hanging in their house. I have always loved it.

Lockets are one of those magical things that we hold onto forever and pass down to our children's children. Your grandma is beautiful. You favor her.

I was given my grandmother's locket with a ruby inset after both of my grandparent's passed away. My uncle told my dad that I was to have it because I looked like grandma. it holds picture of my grandma as young girl and my grandpa in his military uniform. She brought it with her from Germany to the USA in 1929. I love to wear it as it brings lots of comments.
Serena: you look like your grandma!

That is a beautiful quote! I got the neatest heart locket on Etsy last year. It has wings as the front, that shape the heart. It opens. It's really fun. When I was little I love lockets and those crystal heart necklaces that everyone had....I have around 3 crystal hearts from childhood (with no chains, no idea what happened to those!)
Have a good weekend.

I love the quote :)
My dad has always had an antique business on the side ~ ever since I was a wee girl... and I too was enamored with lockets. (I think he is too..he finds some pretty unique ones).
I hadn't thought about them in a long time before today! Thank you.
I found you from the latest issue of Country Living and I'm SO glad!

I love the fact that a thief was kind enough to leave this precious photo behind

How sad that your precious things were stolen...I'm glad at least they left the photo! Lockets are such a wonderful thing to collect. If we only knew the story behind each one! And isn't it funny....we start loving things again after a few years pass? ♥♥♥

Lockets are mysterious and beautiful. They have lived a life and captured a moment of love between two people that we can never fully understand. Heart lockets are the best!
