that's awesome. I collect old carved clam shell scenes.(celluloid) they are clam shells with rural scenes in them that usually have a man and woman, sometimes only a single figure, a farm house,a creek and boat, and a water wheel in the scene on the side that turns, sometimes they will have a small cow in the scene also, the tops of the shells are intricately carved with either mountain scenes or dragons.they were gifts that the soldiers would send back to wives or girlfriends during the war.

I have been appointed (by my parents) as the keeper of my grandparents dairy farm antiques. We also house my husband's grandparents fruit farm antiques. I have horse harnesses, plows, pharmacy glassware, hand tools, dishes, furniture... you name it... and it is ALL from family.

And I really collect cocktail shakers. Is that weird? I also USE them, regularily. Really though, there are alot of fun shaped shakers out there.
Great find Serena!

I come from a long line of artists in my family, so I collect vintage family paintings which are becoming more and more difficult to find.
Posted by: Susan | March 29, 2011 at 09:35 PM
I collect red & white, black & white enamelware. I have LOTS of pieces but the ones that mean the most are the 5 black rimmed & 1 red rimmed chipped plates that my dad, his brothers & his 1 sister ate off when they were growing up on the ranch.(Guess who had the red one?) Also when my husband grew up, he had lots of cousins so when they went to his grandmother's house she made a huge enamel basin full of popcorn for snacks. (Inexpensive & it went far) When they cleaned out her things after she passed away, my mother-in-law brought that home for us! I really collect all kinds of old antique kitchen items. Crocks, mason jars, tins, red handled wood utensils. Love anything old with a history! I love your cookbooks & site also.

We're trying for small California plein air landscapes but they are so expensive! We found a few great ones last year at a flea market in Caspar.

I collect silhouettes. Only the old ones. They are scattered throught the house. You don't see them so much anymore so it's fun to look for them whenever I'm antiquing. It all started when my mom gave me one of hers when I moved into my first place.

I adore paintings of different genre but I don't have a collection of it. Wish I have enough money to do so. :)

I love that painting! I collect cow creamers, which may be why I love your painting: for the cows!
Posted by: Candice | March 30, 2011 at 05:39 AM
Candice, Yes, the cows were really the tipping point for me on the painting. I love cows. I even collect old black and white photos of cows. I love that families kept framed pictured of their livestock, back in the day. :)

Hi Serena! LOVE your Blog! I to am building a house. I collect Large Oak ice boxes that I will use for storage everywhere in my new home, kitchen, bath, laundry. I also collect pink McCoy fish scale mixing bowls, only Pink. It's the only Pink I have in my home, but I love the way it looks grouped together! Thanks for always giving me a smile! :)
Posted by: Amy | March 30, 2011 at 06:36 AM
Amy, What a unique collection! Growing up, we had an old icebox that we salvaged from a landfill. It was with us when we lived in the gypsy wagon and then followed us from home to home.
Good luck with your new home!

I've been putting out some photos at my blog recently, as well as at facebook. It's nice to share our collections with friends! Thanks for sharing yours with us.. :)

Beautiful painting! I collect antique kitchen supplies (my favourites are an old colander that belonged to my granny and a butter press that belonged to her mother), books (especially cookbooks) and transferware (brown is my favourite).

I love this painting! This is exactly the type of paintings that I have been wanting to collect. I hope I find some when I hit the garage/estate sale trail this year! Thanks for sharing!

Gorgeous painting, I'm jealous! I collect old cedar souvenir boxes, mostly the type with the pastoral scenes on top of them. Old suitcases are a favorite too!
Posted by: Jennifer Robin | March 30, 2011 at 12:04 PM
I would love that painting for my own! I collect old landscapes and floral-themed paintings and hang them randomly (organized chaos, as I like to say) on one wall in my room. My rule: can't be over $40! It can take some hunting, but there is nothing like finding that perfect gem collecting dust in the corner of some shop :D Makes it entirely worthwhile.

Hi Serena! Great pastoral painting! Love it!! For years I have collected fruit paintings, mostly still life paintings, they cover the walls in my kitchen. What I love about my collection is, each painting has a memory, the very first painting my husband bought for me, while we were vacationing with my family on the Oregon Coast. One small painting, that hangs on my wall, was given to me by a young man that did yard work for me, he picked it up at a yard sale. I guess its the stories I love the most.

I collect old watercolors - I have them on every wall of my house and always have room for one or two more. I keep the old frmes they come in but sometimes have to change out the matting if it is too distressed or moldy. I like to collect old frames too, so if I find a watercolor, that needs a frame. I always have a supply.

I collect Fiesta dishes & really anything that they made. I also use it everyday - even the old stuff. Love that my kitchen is a rainbow of colors. It makes me smile everyday :)

Sweet painting! I love old landscapes...especially with horses.
Maybe add a barn wood frame?
I collect cake pedestals. Lots of kinds lots of sizes. Mostly because they are SO useful! A little height adds a bunch to just about anything. One holds my jewelry on my dresser, one in bathroom holds some shells & soap, another is my "fruit bowl". :)

I collect my Mom's watercolors of children at the beach and florals and a book she just illustrated...she used to be in the galleries in Seaside, OR when they lived there...I LOVE her style and use of color...writing this makes me think I need to do a post on my blog about her...!

I too collect paintings! I get them at the Farm Chicks show, the Red Barn show, and the Sisters' sales. They usually have flowering trees, a barn and sheep in them. So if you find yourself in a tug-of-war over a cute old painting around Spokane, chances are the person on the other end is me! See you at the tag sale on the 30th!
