With the return of some granny fashion, sometimes we can make big fashion mistakes. Take these cute little granny sneakers, for example.
My fashion DON"T would be pairing the granny sneakers with ordinary jeans. Not only does it look dated, it adds weight to your frame.
My fashion DO would be to pair the grannies with a tapered leg jean, which not only has a slimming effect, but is more current too. Isn't it funny how such a tiny variation can make such a difference?
Even better? A little roll-up on the cuff:
The trick when adding in a granny piece is to add just one, and mix it with something current. A little bit of granny goes a long way.
Shoes: Target
Jeans: Ann Taylor Loft (both pairs)

I think that should be a bumper sticker. "A little bit of granny goes a long way!" LOL!
For now I'm pairing my granny panties with a hip new bra. Does that count? LOL!

Guess I'll be stuck being a fashion don't then. I love to wear Keds but I really hate wearing tapered jeans. All my jeans are boot cut and I don't wear anything else. If my clothes date me (I AM a 44 yo grandma BTW), then so be it. I still have 5 kids at home and I wear what I like and what's comfy not what's "in". "In" clothes really mean nothing to me.

I also cannot wear skinny jeans. It's the era I grew up in. Elephant Bell Bottoms are the thing for me - I guess that's dating myself. This 54 year old granny could pull off a variation of the look though.

very good points!! I have some straight leg jeans by Kut that I could actually sleep in they are so comfy. And, I'm almost 61, so it's not because I am rail thin!!:) Also recently discovered Jag jeans. They have a smooth waistband instead of a button/snap and are so comfortable. My DIL owns a clothing boutique, so she tries to keep me in trend. haha!!

I'm not suggesting skinny jeans, just tapered. Capris are another option. But as long as you love what you wear, that's what matters. :) xoxo, Serena

I love my keds. They end up paired with everything LOL
I admit though that most of my jeans are tapered or skinny now- I never did care for boot cut.

I agree...a little granny goes a long way. These shoes do not remind me of granny, though. We used to buy Ked's knockoffs for $1.97 at our local grocery store. These were our school shoes. One pair in the fall and one in the spring. My sister would wear them until they were so worn, they looked like sandals! Mom would sneak to throw them away. Now that sis is a granny, I will tell her she is back in style! Happy Spring!

OK, what's wrong with me, but I love, love, love the carpet. Simple, functional, steady. Sneakers are fine too! LOL...

I used to wear that kind of shoe when I was a teen-ager (I doubt they were Keds). You're right, a little granny goes a long way, unless you're a granny.

This was so fun to see... my beloved Grandma Warner was an original farm chick- she was a Depression era farm wife and mother of nine in Utah! AND she wore black tennies just like the ones in your photos because living on a farm the white ones just got too dirty she said. But she did where white ones when she went other places- they were more dressy!
