::: I was thinking about how off the shoulder shirts have been so popular for the last two summers and how they can be such a pain to wear sometimes, right? First, what to wear underneath? What do you do about the shirts with sleeves slipping up onto the shoulders? Why do some of the shirts feel like you've had rope strapped around you, making it hard to move your arms? I thought I'd share what has worked for me with all of the above.
As far as what to wear underneath, I have discovered bandeau bras and I think they're really great because they stay up so much better than a strapless bra. (I'm never having to tug at a bandeau to keep it in place). Bandeaus are made of stretchy material and have a soft cup making them comfortable to wear. They're widely available and can be found with a simple online search or at most department stores.
For shirts that are constantly slipping up and onto the shoulder, the best advice I can give is to figure that out when you're shopping and to get a bigger size. This is caused because the elastic is too tight on your shoulders and has nowhere to go but up. But if you already own the shirt, I suggest trying fashion adhesive that works as a double-stick tape, on your arm, under the sleeve. Search online for fashion adhesive, or fashion tape.
Something else I've found with off the shoulder tops is that I usually need to buy one or two sizes up from what I would normally wear. This seems to fix both the problem of the sleeves slipping up and out of place or the elastic being so tight that it leaves my arms feeling constricted. I normally wear a size small top, but in the picture above, I'm actually wearing a large. So, it's worth noting that the sizing seems to be a bit wonky on these style tops and you really need to take the time to try on multiple sizes of the same style to figure out which size fits the best and stays in place at the same time.
::: Summer can leave my face feeling dried out. I love this Coco Rosa Hydrate Face Mist from my-soon-to-be sister-in-law's company, Esteli. I like to mist it on after the gym or after a day at the lake.
::: At some point I realized that endless summer sun isn't the best for my skin and have become pretty vigilant about wearing a sunhat at the lake, and a daily tinted moisturizer with sunscreen throughout the year. So sadly, I'm no longer full of that summer glow of long ago. Because of this, I now add my own bit of glow with bronzer. My favorite is Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Brick. They come in many different hues to fit your skin tone and last for an extremely long time. (Yes, it's expensive, but I've had mine for more than two years and it's barely dented).
Do you have any summer go-to's? I'd love to hear about your favorites too.
