Not long after I got home from Adriana's bridal shower, the bluff started getting smokey. I was worrying about grandma and grandpa's 50th wedding anniversary outdoor party the next night and the possibility of the smoke causing problems. Nobody really wants to go out when the skies are hazy like this but, needing a bunch of greenery for the floral arrangement I was making for the big celebration, I slipped off my bridal shower party heels and into the Parcours 2 rubber boots Aigle recently sent me to review and headed down the road to forage.
Every stage of the wild roses that thrive on the bluff are beautiful to me. The petals are long gone and the rosehips have now appeared. They're a pretty cream color for the time being but will turn pink and then to red in the coming month or two.
I've been enjoying my new boots for a few weeks now. I really like how they have a heavy-duty type of quality feel but still wear like a lightweight boot. And it's so nice to have something to protect my feet and legs when I'm dealing with all those thorns on the rosebushes or any number of things while working outside.
I do a lot of walking around the fields and the bluff so I've been trying them out for comfort as well. They're great in that area too, being really comfortable with an almost bouncy sole. Is this why French girls have such a cute bounce in their step?! (Aigle boots are made in France, founded in 1853 by an American living in the country. have just recently expanded to begin offering their products in the U.S. and Canada).
I guess the biggest question I ask myself when I'm doing a review is, would I actually buy and use the product had it not been sent to me? And the answer is yes. They're great for my rural needs, but I'd definitely throw them on over a cute pair of jeans, with a bright red cable sweater in December or as part of an outfit on a rainy spring day running errands.
You can read all about the history of Aigle boots and if you're interested, shop for your own pair here. I think I might need these ones next...
