This spring I had a sleepover with Nancy and Sally at Nancy's float house.
The stunning scenery gets me every time.
Nancy's eclectic style makes everything feel cozy and happy.
And I love how every surface that someone may EVER sit on, has a cushion. Like this teeny tiny stool near the fireplace:
We played games like Tile Rummy
and watched the ducks floating by.
And it was perfect.

Every time I see this little cabin in the woods, I wish I could go inside and soak in all its sweetness. I don't think she receives many visitors these days.

Hello, back door. I love the treasures you're keeping safe from the elements.
And you, best little kitchen cooling window I've ever seen, I wish I could bake a bunch of pies and place them on your shelves, for old-times sake.
How long since you've been opened?
How long since someone's looked at you for your authority?
How long since someone's danced around you as you baked?
Even though you're cold right now, I can feel your warmth, little cabin.
And I will admire you, if only from outside, for all the days of my life.

I visited a magnificent house recently that was done in an all white palette. I'm a huge fan of white, and love how they brought in other natural elements and textures to make it come alive. And although it's definitely over the top, I thought you might enjoy taking the tour just as much as I did:
I really admire the mixture of surfaces as well: pavers, tile, wood, rock, stucco. It all comes together so beautifully.
Although this landscape is obviously very lush, it's a good reminder at how lovely some greenery can be when added into your home environment. We can't all have lovely little ponds, yet, some simple pots of succulents would be a wonderful way to add serene and natural elements indoors.
I can't say enough about all of the textures here. This is another way to really take a home to a higher level of well thought out design. And textures can be introduced on any budget. Rocks, mosaics, foliage, wood, metals, etc.
Oh my, well that was a lovely little break from winter now wasn't it?
